Selkie ‘Meet the Expert’ event – Project Engineering & Naval Architecture for Marine Operations with Morek

For our final session of the ‘Meet the Expert’ Series we were joined by Morek Engineering.  Morek Engineering is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineering consultancy based in Falmouth UK. They are firmly focussed on the design and deployment of marine renewable energy technologies, offering support to technology developers at all stages of the technology readiness scale. Their experience ranges from the controlled confines of tank test facilities through to offshore deployments in some of the world’s most energetic ocean environments.

Morek’s Director, Bob Colclough gave a brilliantly pitched presentation giving an insightful overview of the services they provide, the characteristics of a tidal energy site, typical processes and engineering tasks, some example projects they have worked on, before answering and providing guidance on some thought provoking questions in the Q & A.

The session provided valuable on hand experience looking more closely at Seafastening on the Grand Canyon II, Heavy lift operations in Japan and vessel selection processes.  To view the slides from the presentation please click here.

Overall, this session covered a lot of ground and presented useful, relevant and assessable considerations of project engineering for marine operations.  For more information on Morek as a specialist technical service provider to the offshore energy market please click here.
